Six Word Fridays: silence

Writing is an art of course

Skilled or unskilled (self-) expression “penned”

But art is subjective, personal, emotive

Placing yourself there, before potential criticism

Takes bravery, a fierceness of will

To conquer doubts that fester, like….

Who will like it? Tense hope.

Who will respond? Waiting…waiting…ping!

Someone has broken silence – the gap

Between “Publish” and “Please moderate: X”

A void filled, a connection made.

This Six Word Fridays post is about being brave and hitting publish. Even though it shouldn’t matter, I always hope someone likes what I’ve created and shared. So whether you like this post or not, thanks for reading!

Now please do visit Melissa’s blog for more Six Word Fridayness. Happy weekend!

My blog has been my stepping stone ~ I really want to do some more serious writing. It has been a great to ‘just do it’ and the connections made through it are wonderful! I love this, cause the vulnerability piece of writing and putting it out there always leaves me hoping for that little ‘ping’! You do a great job of capturing and expressing inner dialogue ~ very relatable and always spot on!

      Thanks Adrienne,

I’m working harder at writing more personally. I don’t think I’m alone in this but yes, sometimes publishing a post does feel like you’re waiting for the silence to end. Happy writing to you!

Every time we click publish we take a risk. I LOVE this six words! And your new header 🙂

that first comment is always the most important… and when something receives no “reply,” it’s always a bit disheartening. Love this reflection of the process.

      Hi Rachelle,

Exactly! It’s like, ‘oh, you mean no one likes it?’ Learning to not let that matter so much. But sometimes it’s hard! 🙂

Hitting publish: a leap of faith.
Most of all, faith in yourself.

    yeah.
    it’s terrifying.
but I guess it’s more terrifying not to put it out there or we wouldn’t do it.
