I’m always amazed at bloggers who write and publish every day. Not a couple of posts a week. Every day.
I average about two posts a week, although this week I also did a guest post for Kids In the Capital so – hooray! – three posts this week! *double fist pump*
Typically though, my two posts consist of a weekly contribution to the Six Word Fridays blog meme and then another post about whatever comes to mind.
Being a part of Six Word Fridays is fun because I get to create a post on a set topic and share it with a community of bloggers doing the same thing.
The other post is fun too because it’s me sharing a view-point, experience or story.
But I’m struggling to up my blogging ante. Not because I don’t want to write more – I do! It’s finding the time, which I know translates into making the time. Sigh.
Kind of like making the time for fitness – you need to incorporate workouts and cardio into your weekly routine – make it part of a healthy lifestyle.
I guess I’m not eating enough of my ‘Blogging Wheaties’ to really be able to push through to the next level. I’m trying though.
And I’m curious how other bloggers do it. When do you blog? How do you make the time?

I have a half dozen unfinished posts waiting… I also have started bringing a journal into bed and writing by hand. I find I get inspired as soon as I turn off my laptop, and if I don’t write down my ideas they are gone as quickly as they appeared! I really enjoy 6 word Fridays, and have thought about signing on to something like that, but since my inspiration comes and goes, I never know if it will show up in time to write the Friday posts!
Vicky – now that’s a good idea! I have a journal too sitting in my bedside table collecting dust. Which makes me think carrying a pocket notebook might be a good idea too b/c you never know where or when inspiration will hit. Thanks for sharing your tip!
Er, I don’t sleep 😉 It’s 12:46 am, I should be in bed!
I usually blog after the kids go to sleep or at quiet/time nap time. I tend to write 3-4 posts at a time and then need a break for a week before I can write again.
ha. ha. Don’t sleep – that’s the trick? Got it. 😉
I’m working my way up to about 3 ish posts a week right now so I totally understand the feeling! 😉
Yes but Lara you’re writing on multiple blogs – well you, Sara and Vicky all are – and I’m in awe of that!
I’ve asked the same question – where the heck to people find the time? Right now, I’m trying to “shame” myself into posting more by joining #reverb10 (reverb10.com). Daily posts for a month – eek! I’m not sure if I’ll be able to pull it off (especially in December), but I think writing begets more writing. I find once I get started, it’s easier to write more.
Wow, what a great project! Wish I’d heard of it sooner. Is it too late to join you think? Hrm…
I do think, though, that authenticity is important. That you are blogging because you have something to say and something you want to share. That said I get cross if my favourite bloggers don’t post, I feel cheated!
Emma, I totally agree. No sense blogging for blogging sake if all you are doing is spamming the universe with nonsense.
I’m so glad you DO post on Fridays, though! 🙂
I second what Sara said. Who needs sleep? Oh, right, I do…
But really, that’s when I blog. Late at night. Or else during my kids’ after-lunch quiet time, but that doesn’t help you much. I don’t post on weekends, either, just monday thru friday. And I don’t worry about it if I skip a day or three. But thinking of it as part of my routine means I do it more often than I skip it.
