six word fridays: warmth

warmth is a cup of tea

when you don’t feel so great

cradled between hands, as rising steam

soothes the soul, melts away aches

warmth is a cup of tea

preferably green, with  jasmine and mint

a lemon cookie on the side

My daughter has a book about fairies and one of the different types of fairies is the tea fairy because sometimes there is nothing like a hot cup of tea to soothe the soul. One of the new strategies I use in my peaceful divorce is to make my ex a cup of hot tea the minute he walks in the door. It’s our new shared ritual.

Today the snow is falling, again. My head is aching and I feel the creeping of uninvited germs, but just reading this is soothing. I’m heading to put the kettle on. Thanks. 🙂
