Mornings come early in this house.
I mean early. The birds are not even singing yet but DD is.
Calling out: Mom-mee! Then talking quietly to herself.
Giving us foolish, precious hope she will fall asleep again.
Nope.
A more demanding call: Mommy! With a Da-Da! thrown in for good measure.
Weekend or weekday it’s the same.
Off I go to DD’s room.
With groggy eyes and stumbling feet.
Always, always greeted with a smile.
Her arms reaching out – circling my neck.
Hugging me close as she gives me the sweetest smooch.
Best way to wake up. No matter how early it is.
