Six Word Fridays: kept

This is completely a parent thing…

But…I kept DD’s first clothes.

What she wore home – buckled in –

Our first family car trip, albeit…

A rather short journey. πŸ™‚ We left

the hospital – oohing and awing – yes,

Smitten. Funny thing about that onesy…

that hat…both worn only once.

She outgrew them in a day,

But I kept them anyway. Because,

They are treasures to me – representing

Her new life, our new family.

Last week was so crazy busy I didn’t get a chance to contribute to Six Word Fridays! Boo! But this week I’m back! Now go check out the other Six Word Friday submissions atΒ Making Things Up. You’ll be glad you did.

That’s amazing that she outgrew that onesie in a day! Wow! Mine sure grew slower than that. At 2 she was still wearing some 3-6 month onesies! What a precious memory.

it is a parent’s thing, I suppose. We can’t freeze time but we can hold on to the remnants of the past.

How I love that first ride home! Was just looking at my litter of kiddos this morning and was flabbergasted about how quickly time goes by.

I hosted a baby shower for my best friend’s daughter not too long ago. My friend wrapped up and passed on to her daughter the little outfit she had worn home from the hospital 26 years ago. That was everyone’s favorite moment at the shower…and the new baby wore that same outfit home that her mama had!
    Love that you saved this!

First car trip! First outing, first onesie…
I could keep ‘first’ momentos forever.

I kept them too! Tucked away in special boxes in their room I hope one day they appreciate just how small they were when they entered the world.

I don’t have that particular first. But I have other little clothes saved. I’ve seen them sewn into quilts pretty much intact. But really they are for me πŸ™‚
