The funny thing about New York

I just got back from NYC – and I can’t wait to get back!

I was there for a conference (more on that in a later post) and I just loved every moment.

It was a bit whirlwind – I arrived last Wednesday afternoon and left Friday afternoon – but still so much fun.

That city is booming! I didn’t sleep a wink. Not sure if it’s because the city doesn’t sleep and that kept me awake or if I just couldn’t believe I was finally there.

When I walked down the streets of Union Square, I tried to keep the starry-eyed glee from my eyes. But it was hard!

Oh, and I got to ride in those iconic yellow taxis. Cool.

Also, notice in the photo below the lovely blossom tree in full bloom? Yes, spring has more than arrived in NYC and it was marvelous to dip my toe in what is still weeks away from arriving in Ottawa.

The funny thing about my trip to New York is…I thought the people would be cold…that I’d experience some pushing and shoving as I moved through the streets. Or at minimum, some curt words. But not so.

People were friendly! And kind.

I was lucky enough to meet some great people while in NYC. Born-and-bred New Yorkers and visitors from other states attending the same conference as me.

While I didn’t get a chance to hit Times Square, see a Broadway show or the like, I did get to and hang out at Cibar for a martini and then Bocca for some delish Italian food with some really nice people. I just plain old had a blast.

I also did a wee bit of shopping.

🙂

The city and it’s people are not what I expected. Perhaps New Yorkers should be disappointed in me for having such a negative preconception of them.

Union Square Market just waking up...

I’d go back in a heartbeat. Already have DH half convinced we should go this summer. We’ll see…

Have you been to the Big Apple? If you have, what impressed you the most? If you haven’t, what would you love to do while there?

LOVE NYC! It’s probably my fave city in the world and I have convinced my hubby (he’s never been) to go this year for our 5 year anniversary. Can’t beat the vibe of the place – so glad you had a fun time Mel!!
